Reviews about Lumber Liquidators, Inc.
- ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆April 26, 2019, by Jim HamiltonWe made the mistake of registering with the Scottsdale Lumber Liquidators store when we picked up samples. We were then peppered with calls for installation estimates, sales and marketing calls, "sale price" calls, etc. Andrew called twice and we made an appointment the 2nd time. He and his partner came up to Sedona ($50 gas money) and while his partner measured, Andrew was "the salesman." Other than misquoting the sq ft by almost 300 extra (!!!) sq ft and assuming the sale (assuming we would sign with them while they were there), they seriously botched the quote by leaving out most of the information we requested.. Seems they are more thinking about themselves rather than providing a service and letting the customer make choices. Reminds me a bit of the door-to-door aluminum siding salesmen of days past. I wrote the manager of the Scottsdale store and got no response.. Not only would I never use these guys, as an aside we discovered Floor and Decor on Camelback Rd. We will be placing an order with them in the next couple of days--.. Disappointing and potentially expensive. My letter received no response March 01, 2018 Lumber Liquidators 8340 E Rain Tree Drive Scottsdale, Arizona 85260 Attn: Jamie I've recently had an unsatisfactory experience with your organization. I was contacted several times by Andrew Valiquette who made an appointment to come up to Sedona to estimate our flooring needs. I don't remember giving Andrew my contact information so it must have come from your store. Andrew and his associate arrived on Saturday, the 24th of Feb. His associate proceeded to measure the sq ft and Andrew talked with us. As the visit wound up, there seemed to be somewhat of an assumption that we would agree to a contract before they left. By way of example, Andrew made several "rushed" calls to get "bottom-line" pricing on several items that might have been more thoughtfully handled from his office. In the meantime, they quoted the floor at 1031 sq ft for which I corrected them because I had already had the space measured at 719 sq ft. They revised down to 797. In talking with them, I had a number of questions and we produced a rough draft with different numbers based on glue down, float, matting, etc. There were also a number of other factors including materials (acacia vs bamboo), demo, etc. I specifically asked for two sets of quotes for two different floor materials which they were going to price, the different installation techniques, etc. When the proposal showed up as an Invoice with a deposit due of $1,666.52 the next day Sunday, I was in the process of dismissing Andrew as an invalid deliverer of services. Andrew called on Monday afternoon wherein I explained that he only provided a fraction of the information/quote I had requested/paid for. I also mentioned it seemed like they were expecting us to sign up when they were there. At this point, Andrew got defensive and a bit huffy and I told him I was going to get off the line. Why would I argue with Andrew? In the meantime, he owed me another quote for float which he never sent. And, as I understood it, another set of quotations from a second company (?). So, I've paid $60 for nothing. They misquoted the sq ft (which would have stood had I not challenged the number), they delivered one invoice but failed to deliver an intelligent quote that I contracted for. After all, a quote that contains the statement "there will be an extra charge for demo, baseboards, grinding, leveling, etc." is incomplete. Needless to say, I won't be using Andrew for our flooring needs. The $60 isn't a big deal but I would expect you to return it. Please instruct Andrew not to contact me. I will not be working with him. I hope he is not a true representation of your organization. Sincerely, J.Hamilton
